Participants

In order to carry out this initiative, a multidisciplinary operational group with supra-autonomous character has been created. It is comprised by a total of 12 participants including beneficiaries/partners, subcontracted and collaborators from Galicia, Asturias, Navarra, Cataluña and Comunidad Valenciana.

Galician University-Enterprise Foundation (FEUGA) – Operational Group Representant

Innovation agent and knowledge transfer office between the research and industrial actors in different sectors, such as agri-food and forestry, through the promotion and management of projects, as well as participation by leading communication, dissemination and exploitation activities. FEUGA participates or has participated in the projects: H2020 SoildiverAgro and ROADMAP, Interreg POCTEP Biomasa-AP and Conserval; autonomous Operational Groups EVID, FERVIÑA, CONTECAD and GALIVINO; supra-autonomous VITICAST, VARROAFORM, PROTEINLEG, AVIENERGY and TIRAC; and pilot projects ALGATERRA, BIOPROINSECT and GREENCASTANEA.

HIFAS VETERINARY

Hifas Vet is a Galician technology SME, specialized in the investigation and development of fungi-based products for animals. Its objective is to provide effective and innovative solutions based on the design of new natural products oriented to the veterinary sector. Hifas Vet aims, also, to satisfy the increasing demand for these products through the R&D carried out by a highly expertise human team, fungi self-cultivation, and the use of fungi-origin extracts obtained from a high level and sustainable technology. The scope of its activity encompasses from the agri-food to the zoosanitary industry.

Neoalgae

Neoalgae is an Asturian technology SME with a high entrepreneur and innovative component, focused on marine biotechnology, with a particular scope on microalgae.

Its installations in Asturias , are where its multidisciplinary team of biologists and specialized personnel carries out the controlled cultivation process of microalgae ensuring the highest sanitary and normative standards.

Neoalgae capacities encircle the whole value chain, answering market needs with its new products, designed under the perspective of sustainability and respect towards the environment.

Grupo Uvesa

Grupo Uvesa is one of the key actors in the Spanish food industry, thanks to its poultry, porcine, and feed areas. They have worked, since its creation, towards the vertical integration of its poultry and porcine areas. The constant effort of its R&D&i department makes it possible to introduce improvements in the products and process developments. Grupo Uvesa has vast experience in research projects at an autonomic, national, and international level, collaborating with investigation groups of recognized prestige in the poultry and porcine sectors. Throughout these years, Grupo Uvesa has developed numerous projects, leading some and participating as a collaborator in others.

AINIA Technology Center

AINIA is a technology center constituted in 1987 as a private non-profit association. With 30 years of experience, AINIA works to impulse the competitiveness of the companies through innovation. It is one of the European technology centers with a bigger corporate social base, with above 700 companies associated and more than 1,500 customers. Its main headquarters are located in Valencia (Spain).

En su Departamento de Biotecnología, la línea de investigación de estudios preclínicos in vitro implicada en el proyecto MICOALGA-FEED tiene el equipamiento y la experiencia de más de 15 años necesaria para llevar a cabo la evaluación del efecto biológico de muestras complejas. Moreover, AINIA has a group of experts in health and nutrition who work simulating the whole gastrointestinal digestion process, setting the process in accordance with the specific study.

University of Vigo (Biomass and Sustainable Development Investigation Group, EQ-2 Group)

The EQ-2 research group belongs to the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Vigo, and develops its work at the Faculty of Sciences and at the Building of the Campus del Agua of Ourense.

The group is formed by a multidisciplinary team with an extensive research background. The main research work focuses in the utilization of vegetal biomass wastes to obtain product of interest in the food, pharmaceutical, etc. industries, integrating chemical engineering, chemistry (natural products and food chemistry), materials science, enzymology and microbiology.

Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA)

IRTA is a research institute owned by the Government of Catalonia, adscribed to the Ministry of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda, It is regulated by Law 04/2009, passed by the Catalan Parliament on 15 April 2009, and it is ruled by private regulations. The mission of IRTA is to contribute to modernising, improving, boosting competitiveness, and fostering sustainable development in the sectors of agriculture, food, agroforestry, aquaculture, and fishing, as well as in all areas of activity directly or indirectly related to the supply of healthy, high-quality foodstuffs to end consumers, while also contributing to food safety and safe processing of foodstuffs and in general enhancing the health and well-being of the population.

University of Oviedo (Department of Biology of Organisms and Systems, BOS)

The Department of Biology of Organisms and Systems (BOS) of the University of Oviedo owns research experience mainly in activities related to the development and optimization of microalgae cultivation and its scaled to the industrial level, as well as the use of the biomass for its valorisation. For the research to develop in the MICOALGA-FEED project, BOS has infrastructure such as a greenhouse with a water recirculating system and particle filtration, temperature-controlled cultivation chamber, incubators with temperature, photoperiod and luminous intensity control, as well as other laboratory equipment.

Spanish Poultry Science Association (AECA, Spanish brand of the World Poultry Science Association –WPSA-)

AECA’S main objective is to promote research and technical and scientific exchange between aviculture specialists and professionals. Currently, AECA is one of the most active and internationally recognized branches of the WPSA sections. It is comprised of more than 260 active members, all of them Spanish aviculture technicians, professionals and researchers.

Spanish Foundation for the Animal Nutrition Development (FEDNA)

FEDNA is a non-profit educative foundation created by diverse people from the university and private companies. Its objective is the development of nutrition at the Spanish scope and to disseminate the latest scientific advances on nutrition and animal feed.

Spanish Compound Feed Manufacturers Confederation for Pets (CESFAC)

(CESFAC) is a non-profit professional organisation that comprises and represents the interests of the associated manufacturers and feed sector in general, before public administrations and thirds. Al estar integrada por catorce asociaciones territoriales, CESFAC también asegura la defensa de los intereses ante cada administración autonómica.

Además, son el único representante del sector ante la Federación Europea de Fabricantes de Alimentos Compuestos (FEFAC), ante la Federación Española de Industrias de Alimentación y Bebidas (FIAB) y ante la Interprofesional Española de la Alimentación Animal.

Spanish Inter-Professional Poultry Meat Association (AVIANZA)

AVIANZA is an inter-professional organization with more than 25 years of experience, that comprises above 65 associated companies in Spain. It defends the interests of the aviculture sector both in Spain and in the international market. AVIANZA represents more than 90% of the companies related to the aviculture sector, in chicken, turkey and other poultry meat. They sum up more than 5,000 farms and production centers and 281 quartering and processing centers, which directly employ more than 40,000 professionals.

Among its objective, AVIANZA seeks the consolidation of the Spanish aviculture sector as an international reference of quality and professionalism, to favour exportation. Additionally, AVIANZA is a pioneer in propelling quality and environmental measures, as well as encouraging consumption and animal welfare.
